Welcome to DawnByTheBay a one-stop shop for all things unique, upcycled, & custom made. DawnByTheBay has evolved over the years and was a side hustle until 2020 when I was given my “covid opportunity” to take a leap of faith and make this my full time gig. I am very excited to share with you my custom-made clothing, bags, and rad vintage finds.

Born in southern California and raised on the island of Maui you’ll find that both of these amazing places have influenced my fashion-forward style and laid-back radical designs. I grew up in a very creative household, and from an early age was making, creating & thrifting.

I am a one-woman operation and my pieces are handmade with love. This is NOT fast-fashion, these pieces take time and reflect my unique style with a strong focus on upcycling vintage textiles that would otherwise be sitting on a shelf unused or in a land fill.

DawnByTheBay, a name my childhood best friend came up with simply because it’s my name and I live close to Mission Bay in San Diego, has evolved over the years, first as a side gig on Etsy selling jewelry, vintage finds and hand-made goods. Later as we entered a worldwide pandemic I started making face masks for free and sharing with anyone who needed them. It awoke my love for sewing again and I started investing all my time into bringing my designs to life. I had been furloughed and later let go of my job of 16 years, so I had plenty of time on my hands. Luckily, I seized the opportunity of finally turning my dreams into my full-time job.
